The Raven: A Supernatural Superhero that Dances the Line Between Life and Death

As an author, there is always that one idea that you hold dear but are too afraid to create. For me, that idea was The Raven. After 25 years of nurturing this passion project, I am excited to announce that The Raven will finally be unleashed in October 2023 as a supernatural superhero who fights against secret societies and dangerous pacts to protect the living at the request of Death itself. This six-part novella series and limited TV series promises to be an epic adventure both in written and visual form, exploring past and present London, and featuring a character that dances the line between life and death.

Introduction

As an author, I have always been fascinated by the supernatural and the idea of a world beyond our own. For years, I carried around the idea of The Raven, a supernatural superhero who would serve as a sentinel and protector of the living, at the behest of Death himself. It took me 25 years to develop this idea, and now, in 2023, The Raven is finally ready to take his place in the literary world.

The Birth of The Raven

The Raven was born out of my love for the Gothic genre, the macabre, and the supernatural. In my mind, he was a figure that walked the line between life and death, fighting against the forces of evil to protect the innocent. He was inspired by characters like Batman, Constantine, Blade and Hellboy, but with a darker edge and a supernatural twist. Merging London's darker past with a fresh exploration of Jack The Ripper, this really is a project that brings new ideas to life with an air of uncomfortable familiarity. Originally the idea was born from a 14-year-old's dream that became an obsession with the idea of a Raven being symbolic and important. Always lurking in the background, the story came to first fruition as an exam project at school but never became anything more. Now, 25 years later, the character has finally found a home in the world and promises to be an epic and enjoyable adventure for all.

The World of The Raven

The Raven is set in both past and present-day London, a city steeped in history and mystery. It is a city that has seen countless secret societies and dangerous pacts, all with the aim of allowing demons to roam the earth. The Raven is the only one who can stop them.

The Character of The Raven

The Raven is not your typical superhero. He is a supernatural being, half-alive and half-dead, with the ability to move between worlds. He is a protector of the living, but he is also a figure that inspires fear and awe. He is a creature of the night, with piercing eyes and a cloak that billows behind him. He is both a warrior and a philosopher, fighting against evil while pondering the nature of life and death. His transformation is seen early, but the journey is not as simple as the audience will believe. When we first meet The Raven, he is a broken mind lost in the depths of a private psychiatric facility in London. A chain of events will soon see him reborn in his old image, but his time away from his mantle as Death's Hand have not been without their consequences.

The Novella Series

The Raven will be released as a six-part novella series, each installment exploring a different aspect of The Raven's world and character. The novellas will be tightly plotted, with each one building on the last to create a rich and immersive reading experience. Each novella will also be released as an audiobook, with the talented voice actor Dannul Dailey bringing The Raven to life. The first book will released as the only solo-venture after which the six books will be released in two parts - Books 1-3 and 4-6 along with a complete edition int he future.

The Limited TV Series

The Raven will also be adapted into a limited TV series, with each episode bringing The Raven's world to life in stunning detail. The series will be faithful to the novellas, but will also expand on the world and characters in new and exciting ways. The TV series is currently under consideration for production, with some promising developments on the horizon.

The Importance of Supernatural Fiction

Supernatural fiction has always been a popular genre, with readers and viewers alike drawn to the idea of a world beyond our own. It allows us to explore our deepest fears and desires, and to imagine a reality that is more magical and mysterious than our own. The Raven taps into these themes, and adds a fresh perspective to the genre.

Conclusion

After 25 years of nurturing this passion project, The Raven is finally ready to take flight. As a supernatural superhero that dances the line between life and death, The Raven promises to be an epic adventure that will thrill and captivate readers and viewers alike.
